Art of Volunteering 2010
MADEC supporting our Volunteers
MADEC supports and assists over 50 community organisations which are MADEC corporate members, many of these groups utilise MADEC facilities which includes meeting rooms, a community bus and a range of administration support.
What brings many of these groups and MADEC together is spirit and ethos of community development and wellbeing. MADEC is proud of its community heritage which spans over 40 years and supports the many volunteers who are members of these groups, all of whom contribute in making a real difference in their communities.
Annually MADEC invites artists and craft buffs from across the region to exhibit their works of art in the “Art of Volunteering” Exhibition. The event which continues to grow in popularity each year invites and encourages artists and members of the community to explore their own interpretation of volunteering.
The exhibition encourages artists to depict their interpretation of the Sunraysia region as a vibrant and rural heartland made up of people from diverse backgrounds who volunteer their time to support people in need, to promote a healthy sporting culture amongst our regions youth, who organise community events that instil pride and promote a positive community identity and ensure the community is supported during times of difficulty.
This year a total prize pool of $3,500 will be on offer with both junior and adult sections in each category. Categories include Painting/Drawing, Photography, Craft Item (Quilting/Sculpture/Woodwork) and a special Group Work category for MADEC Corporate Members.
