In good news for growers looking for workers in areas around Queensland’s Lockyer Valley, a new Harvest Office has opened in Gatton.

How can a harvest office help?

With funding from the Australian Government, Harvest Offices provide a no-cost service to help find workers to pick, pack and plant horticulture, cane, grain and cotton crops. Harvest officers are in contact with growers in their area and help them find the workers they need to pick and pack crops.

If you contact a Harvest Office to find workers they will source and screen suitable candidates, conduct visa checks for all overseas visitors to ensure they can legally work, and make sure the workers have accommodation and transport to get to work each day.

The Gatton Harvest Office work with other employment providers, including the National Harvest Labour Information Service to make sure that enough workers travel to the Lockyer Valley to alleviate any labour shortages. However, the more notice they get of harvest vacancies, the easier it is to source good quality workers.
