The Sunraysia region Harvest Office is located in Mildura in the north west of Victoria and bordering onto NSW. Mildura is quite remote being 540 km north west of Melbourne, 385 km north east of Adelaide and 1000 km south west of Sydney. Mildura is surrounded by multiple national parks, and the Murray Darling river system.

The remoteness of the Sunraysia area means workers that travel to our area to take up harvest work will always require accommodation in one of the regions multiple working hostels, caravan parks or free camping sites. Mildura is set on the banks of the Murray River with the region long recognised as a big part of the Australian food bowl. The vast surrounding agriculture district consists of almost 100% of Australia’s dried fruit suppliers as well as large Table Grape, Wine Grape Almond and Citrus plantings. Olives, Blackberries and a variety of Vegetables are minor crops. Sunraysia is also the home of Australia’s largest Garlic grower, “Australian Garlic”.

Harvest Office Manager Kerry-Lyn Robertson has worked with MADEC for many years, firstly starting with the company in the NHLIS call centre then moving to an administration role for the Harvest Office then into the current role as Harvest Office Manager. Kerry-Lyn is supported by two administration staff – Veisinia Ahotaeloa who commenced with MADEC in a combined administration role in Robinvale 2018 for both Jobactive and Harvest Services, then moved to the Mildura Harvest Trail Office as full time Harvest administrator. Katie-Renee Jukes commenced as full time Harvest administration August 2020.

Kerry-Lyn says that “the Mildura Harvest team enjoys assisting growers to find suitable workers. One of the bonuses of working in the Harvest office is we get to meet the many people of different nationalities that come to our area for Harvest work”. The Mildura Harvest Office delivers Work Health and Safety inductions daily between 0830-1700 Monday to Friday and after hours on request. The Harvest Office will also issue photo based Worker Entitlement Cards to any person with work rights who is referred to a harvest job.
