The South East South Australia Region Harvest Office is located in Renmark in the main hub of the SA Riverland.  Renmark is located 254 km northeast of Adelaide, on the banks of the River Murray. The Sturt Highway between Adelaide and Sydney runs through the town.

Apart from the Riverland, the Harvest Office also services the dryland farming areas to the south in areas such as Lamaroo and Pinnaroo, across to Tailem Bend and further south to Keith, Bordertown, Naracoorte, Coonawarra, Penola and Mt Gambier.

The Harvest Office works closely with growers and contractors to source workers and to meet harvest labour requirements and assists workers from across Australia who wish to obtain harvest work.

The Renmark Harvest Office is centrally located in the Riverland which sees a good flow of itinerant workers stay and move through the area.  Crops include almonds, citrus, stone fruit, blueberries, dates, vegetables, apples, pistachios, olives and of course wine grapes.  Growers in the area have taken the opportunity to expand their current footprint and making crop changes to adjust to current produce demands and to take advantage of available grants.

Further south, grain production dominates along with winegrapes, vegetables and some apples.

The Harvest Manager, Mandy Tennant, enjoys working with growers to help place workers on their farms.  It is a very challenging role in the current climate with COVID19 and the dwindling numbers of backpackers in the country.  It has been encouraging to see the increased volume of Australian workers taking harvest positions with the help of the Commonwealth Government’s relocation assistance.

Mandy has worked in the horticultural industry as a Grower Liaison/Supply Chain Manager, a Quality Assurance and Pack House Manager across Tasmania, Queensland and NSW then moving into viticulture as a Quality and Compliance Officer in Victoria.  Moving to South Australia has been a life changing experience that has bought new challenges and a lifestyle change.

Mandy works from the Renmark office with two support staff, Amy Frahn and Megan Rogers.  Amy has worked with MADEC for many years starting with jobactive then moving across to the harvest team.  Megan joined the business as a maternity relief for Amy but has recently accepted a full time reception position with jobactive.
